I needed to quickly learn about waterfall development, software testing, and QA, so I read the following two freely available books.

JUAS "User Enterprise Software Metrics = Essential Handbook =" Published: February 2014

While you can read either book first, I recommend starting with this one as it’s only 32 pages, giving you a sense of accomplishment. The methods for calculating quantitative metrics seemed particularly useful when you need to produce numerical indicators.

A personal learning point for me was discovering the W-model in addition to the V-model.
