I’ll share my perspective on preferring the Shinkansen over flying for business trips from Kumamoto to Nagoya.

Prerequisites

Kumamoto-Nagoya Shinkansen Route

Total travel time: 4.5-5 hours

Kumamoto-Nagoya Flight Route

Total travel time: 3 hours 50 minutes - 4 hours

Kumamoto Prefectural Office → Kumamoto Airport (Aso Kumamoto Airport): 35 minutes
Security checkpoint: 30 minutes
Kumamoto Airport - Komaki Airport: 1 hour 30 minutes
Baggage claim: 30 minutes
Komaki Airport → Nagoya Station: 45 minutes

While the total travel time is shorter by plane,

• 💻 I want to work with MacBook + iPhone tethering during travel
• 🚨 I want to consider recovery options if I miss my connection

To meet these requirements, I chose the Shinkansen.
