How to Set Up Windows 10 Environment with Amazon WorkSpaces

I’ll introduce the steps I took to set up a Windows 10 environment using Amazon WorkSpaces.

Background: Need Internet Explorer 11

The background is that our administrative department needed Internet Explorer 11 to use banking services, so we set up a Windows 10 environment with Amazon WorkSpaces.

Basically, if you follow the setup according to the above article, you’ll be able to use Amazon WorkSpaces.

Each WorkSpace Cannot Be Shared by Multiple Users

各 WorkSpace は 1 人のユーザーに割り当てられており、複数のユーザーで共有することはできません。
Each WorkSpace is assigned to one user and cannot be shared by multiple users.

Therefore, you need to create a Workspace for each user.

Creating a Directory

https://ap-northeast-1.console.aws.amazon.com/workspaces/home?region=ap-northeast-1#directories:directories

Step 1: Select Directory Type

Select [Simple AD]

Step 2: Enter Directory Information

Step 3: Select VPC and Subnets

Select any two [Subnets].

Step 4: Review and Create

Click [Create Directory].

Register Directory

Check ☑️ the created directory and [Register] it.

Launch WorkSpaces

Click the [Launch WorkSpaces] button.

Step 1: Select Directory

Select the directory you just created.

Step 2: Identify Users

Step 3: Select Bundle

Step 4: Configure WorkSpaces

AutoStop: Auto-stop time (hours) 1

Step 5: Review

これらの WorkSpaces が実行され、使用可能になると、上記の各ユーザーの指定した E メールアドレス宛てに E メールが送信されます。E メールには、ユーザーが WorkSpaces アカウントのパスワードを作成し、WorkSpace クライアントをダウンロードして、WorkSpaces にログインする手順が説明されています。
When these WorkSpaces are running and available, an email will be sent to each user’s specified email address. The email contains instructions for users to create their WorkSpaces account password, download the WorkSpace client, and log into WorkSpaces.

As mentioned above, wait for the email to arrive.

WorkSpaces が使用可能になるまでに最大 20 分かかることがあります。 WorkSpace への接続手順がユーザーに送信されます。
It may take up to 20 minutes for WorkSpaces to become available. Connection instructions for the WorkSpace will be sent to users.

✉️ Your Amazon WorkSpace

When you receive an email with the subject ‘Your Amazon WorkSpace’「お客様の Amazon WorkSpace ( Your Amazon WorkSpace )」, follow the instructions in the email to set it up.
